Whistler can take it out of you. Early mornings, big days on the hill, lots of beverages and filling meals. Every once in a while you need a day to loosen up, take a deep breath, and relax. Especially with COVID, mental health is the utmost important and a day to unwind is necessary.
Sounds like you need a day at the spa.Whistler has over 10 spas in town that can accommodate your relaxation needs, however, I can recommend 1 that stands out from the crowd.
Award winning and organic, The Spa at Nita Lake Lodge. Nestled in Creekside, the beautiful boutique hotel is the only lakeside hotel in Whistler, adding to the serenity and magic. Upon arriving at the main level entrance, you will get an aroma of essential oils that activate the senses. Your worries start to fade away and you know you are in a warm and welcoming place.
Nita Lake Spa is newly renovated, with 2 levels, 8 spacious treatment rooms, 4 manicure and pedicure stations, 2 mountain-view roof top hot tubs, a eucalyptus steam room and a beautiful relaxation room. The spa is full of local art, handcrafted wood furniture and decor, and faux throw pillows and blankets.
Spa treatments range from aesthetics; waxing, manicures/pedicures, and hydrating facials to
relaxation body treatments; massages (60 or 90 min), rejuvenating body scrubs and wraps. An exciting new feature is the highly anticipated medi-spa. This new addition showcases top of the line equipment for injectables, body sculpting and laser hair removal. There are a number of packages available, that allow you to spend up to 4 hours in treatments, including a massage, facial, mani and pedi. You can even add a mini bottle of Moet champagne, for an additional $40 to your facial, mani or pedi. A unique treatment to showcase is the Kundalini massage. This is a 60 minute service that combines ancient massage techniques, with a relaxing soundtrack and essential oils to align your chakras. The Kundalini massage is perfect for de-stressing and restoring the central nervous system.
Every treatment includes a complimentary locker, cozy robe and slippers. There are towels in the change room, as well as delicious detoxifying tea, and fruit-infused water on each floor of the spa.
Access to the amenities can be before or after your treatments, and there is no time limit. Nita does not have a day-rate for amenity access,as it is a cozy spa and the amenities compliment the treatments you have.
Nita is a local-friendly spa. There is a 15% locals deal on all treatments every day of the week as well as a fixed local RMT rate (for those with insurance), with a locals price of $135 for one hour. If you are visiting, the Spa has a monthly special that usually includes a discounted treatment. But hey, can you really put a price on well-being?
What I personally find makes Nita so special (besides the fact that I worked there for 3 years) is their dedication to sustainability. All products are organic, from the massage oil, to the skin-care line Naturopathica, and makeup line Jane Iredale, to the Carina Organics shampoo and conditioner in the change rooms.
The spa has partnered with Green Circle, an environmentally friendly initiative, that works with beauty salons and spas across Canada to aim for zero waste. They are able to recycle and re-purpose most waste that accumulates in the salon or spa.
The Spa at Nita Lake Lodge staff make the experience memorable, while being highly trained and vesitile, they are all impressive and genuine people from top to bottom. I thoroughly enjoyed my 3 years of life I spent on the desk, and still get regular treatments today. I will always be an advocate for this spa, for locals and tourists across the globe.
